Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. today announced that the Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use of the European Medicines Agency has recommended approval of Deltyba (delamanid) in combination with a WHO recommended optimized background regimen for the treatment of pulmonary multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB). The CHMP opinion will help form the basis for a European Commission decision expected early next year.
Certain diseases, like Parkinson's and Huntingdon's disease, are associated with damage to the pathways between the brain's basal ganglia regions. The basal ganglia sits at the base of the brain and is responsible for, among other things, coordinating movement. It is made up of four interconnected, deep brain structures that imaging techniques have previously been unable to visualize.
The number of bacteria living within the body of the average healthy adult human are estimated to outnumber human cells 10 to 1. Changes in these microbial communities may be responsible for digestive disorders, skin diseases, gum disease and even obesity.
