One of the most frustrating problems faced by doctors who treat pancreatic cancer is the lack of effective therapeutic options. More than 38,000 people in the United States die of the disease each year, and new drugs and treatments are desperately needed.
The use of performance enhancing drugs is prevalent and unmonitored in junior elite athletes as young as 12, according to research by Griffith University and the University of Canberra that will be presented tomorrow.
Children with functional abdominal pain who used audio recordings of guided imagery at home in addition to standard medical treatment were almost three times as likely to improve their pain problem, compared to children who received standard treatment alone.
Millennium: The Takeda Oncology Company today announced the initiation of a Phase II clinical trial examining rituximab, cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, vincristine and prednisone (R-CHOP) with or without VELCADE® (bortezomib) for Injection for patients with a common type of lymphoma. The study will examine previously untreated patients with a genomically defined subtype of lymphoma called non-germinal center B-cell-like (non-GCB) diffuse large B-cell lymphoma.
Technological advances are making the analysis of single bacterial infected human cells feasible, Würzburg researchers have used this technology to provide new insight into the Salmonella infection process.
