Weill Cornell Medical College has established a new research center to improve medical care in ethnically diverse and medically underserved communities in New York City.
Robert "Buzz" Gehle thought the itchy rash he was experiencing was a recurrence of an earlier case of shingles. But when his doctor saw he was also jaundiced, he immediately knew there was a problem with Gehle's liver.
The recent shootings at the Ft. Hood, Texas army base, allegedly by an army psychiatrist, have placed much-needed focus on mental health care in the army. In an article published in the December issue of the journal CNS Spectrum, renowned psychopharmacology expert Stephen M. Stahl, MD, PhD, calls for increased mental health staffing at Fort Hood and other army bases.
Not only does exercise make most people feel better and perform physical tasks better, it now appears that exercise, specifically, resistance training - actually rejuvenates muscle tissue in healthy senior citizens.
Myanmar, formerly known as Burma has found the H5N1 bird flu virus in chickens in what is believed to be the country's first case of the deadly disease.
