NeuroPace, Inc. today announced that it has submitted its Premarket Approval (PMA) application to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its RNS® System, a novel investigational device that utilizes responsive neurostimulation to monitor and interrupt abnormal electrical activity in the brain before seizures occur. The PMA application is for an indication to treat people with medically refractory partial onset epilepsy originating from one or two locations in the brain.
The cost of cancer care in United States was an estimated $183 billion in 2015 and is projected to rise by 30 percent by 2030, according to the American Cancer Society.
While targeted cancer treatments have reduced side effects and improved efficacy, chemotherapy remains the backbone of combination therapies for many forms of cancer. Unfortunately, cancer patients may suffer from several side effects from chemotherapy, including infertility and a weakened defense system that makes them susceptible to life-threatening infections.
Results of a US study in this week's issue of THE LANCET suggest that regular smear tests rather than colposcopy is the best way of monitoring low-grade cervical lesions among adolescents and young women.
