Providing adequate personal protective equipment (PPE) for all health care workers around the world requires an initial investment of billions of dollars, but the returns on that investment could be close to 8000% in productivity gains, according to a new study published this week in the open-access journal PLOS ONE by Nicholas Risko of the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and colleagues.
Scientists from 28 research facilities in 20 European countries are meeting today in Berlin to kick off the collaborative research project DISCHARGE. The purpose of this project is to determine for which patients with chest pain cardiac CT or cardiac catheterization is best suited.
Type of treatment, sex, race and insurance status are associated with survival rates among patients with advanced laryngeal cancer, according to a report in the December issue of Archives of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery.
Heat and cold waves affect people with certain health conditions differently, highlighting the need for tailored public service risk communication.
