Valeant Pharmaceuticals International (NYSE: VRX) today announced that it has agreed to acquire the rights to several prescription and cosmetic dermatology products from a privately-held, Polish specialty pharmaceutical company.
A new study shows the death of newborn brain cells may be linked to a genetic risk factor for five major psychiatric diseases, and at the same time shows a compound currently being developed for use in humans may have therapeutic value for these diseases by preventing the cells from dying.
The Standford Health Care Dialysis Unit has been selected as the 2018 Advocacy Award recipient for outstanding performance in advancing nephrology nursing certification and patient care.
Capsaicin, the compound responsible for chilis' heat, is used in creams sold to relieve pain, and recent research shows that in high doses, it kills prostate cancer cells. Now researchers are finding clues that help explain how the substance works. Their conclusions suggest that one day it could come in a new, therapeutic form.
