A new study published in January 2020 in the journal Toxics reports that a complete analysis of the products used by patients who fell ill after using vaping products shows one component standing out – vitamin E acetate (VEA). This was the outstanding component found in e-cigarette liquids containing cannabis compounds, but not in the nicotine-containing vaping liquids.
WaferGen Biosystems, Inc., a leading developer of state-of-the-art genomic analysis systems, today announced it has launched the breakthrough WaferGen SmartChip Real-Time PCR System, the next-generation Real-Time PCR system for discovery and validation of biomarkers, or gene expression patterns, on a single platform. The SmartChip System is designed to provide accurate, highly sensitive and high-throughput gene expression profiling capabilities to researchers, clinicians and pharmaceutical companies.
"The scheduled cuts [to doctors' reimbursements from Medicare] - the result of a failed system set up years ago to control costs - have raised alarms that real damage to Medicare could result if the lame-duck Congress winds up in a partisan standoff and fails to act by Dec. 1. That's when an initial 23 percent reduction would hit. ... In a staff meeting, the Redmond, Wash. company told employees they will be required to contribute some portion of their annual healthcare insurance premiums, although it didn't detail what portion staff members would be asked to shoulder.
