The Consortium for Southeastern Hypertension Control (COSEHC), headquartered at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, is launching a major five-year study designed to update current guidelines for treating cardiovascular diseases, improve disease management and reduce heart attacks and strokes in the Southeast.
HCA Inc. announced today that it has filed a registration statement with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission relating to a proposed initial public offering of approximately $4 billion of shares of its common stock to be sold by HCA and certain existing shareholders. It is anticipated that approximately $2.5 billion of the offering will consist of newly issued shares sold by HCA. Such amounts do not give effect to the underwriters' option to purchase additional shares to cover overallotments.
A pulse oximetry training video produced by Rafael Ortega, MD, the vice-chair of academic affairs for the department of anesthesiology at Boston Medical Center (BMC) and professor of anesthesiology at Boston University School of Medicine (BUSM), and his colleagues is featured in this week's New England Journal of Medicine.
Researchers led by Zacharias Mandalenakis from University of Gothenburg in Gothenburg, Sweden, have looked at data from the National registry in Sweden to assess the risk of cancers among children and young adults who have been diagnosed with congenital heart disease compared to those who did not have such a diagnosis.
