Eclipsys Corp.® and Microsoft Corp. today announced they have signed an alliance agreement to deliver the choice and flexibility that hospitals need and want to improve health information technology (HIT) efficiencies. Breaking with the tradition of closed, proprietary systems, the two companies will offer the market tightly integrated health IT solutions designed to make it easy for physicians, nurses and hospital administrators to gain insights from data aggregated from multiple clinical and financial systems across the hospital.
Young athletes who specialize in an individual sport – such as gymnastics, tennis and dance – were at higher risk for overuse injuries (i.e. gradual onset of pain and symptoms), compared to those who focus on a single team sport, according to a study published in The Physician and Sportsmedicine.
For the first time researchers investigate the molecular basis of memory in living mice.
Choking is a leading cause of injury and death among children, especially those younger than 4 years of age. The majority of choking-related incidents among children are associated with food, coins and toys. A new policy statement from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), led by a doctor at Nationwide Children's Hospital and published in the February 22 online issue of Pediatrics, takes a closer look at preventing choking among children.
