A newly completed New York University study of public reaction to the 9/11 attacks concludes that people in positions of power, from government officials to managers working on Wall Street to military personnel, tended to interpret the events in more abstract terms and with more certainty and positivity than ordinary individuals.
The discovery is an important step toward therapies that aim to repair the brain not by introducing new stem cells but rather by spurring those that are already present into action, says the study's lead author Freda Miller of the University of Toronto-affiliated Hospital for Sick Children. Waters Corporation (NYSE: WAT) today hosted Dr. Lawrence Zintek, National Organic Methods Development Expert, United States Environmental Protection Agency Region 5 Central Regional Laboratory in Chicago, and author of two new rapid screening methods for Alkylphenols and Bisphenol A (BPA) using Waters® ACQUITY UPLC®/Quattro Premier(TM) XE (UPLC/MS/MS) recently published in American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) International. Dr. Zintek was the keynote speaker at a Waters' breakfast seminar held in conjunction with the Water Quality Technology Conference sponsored by the American Water Works Association in Seattle.
Cannabinoids, the active ingredients in marijuana, restrict the sprouting of blood vessels to brain tumors by inhibiting the expression of genes needed for the production of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF).
Cortex Pharmaceuticals, Inc. entered into a new agreement with Servier to sell its remaining rights to the jointly discovered high impact AMPAKINE compound, CX1632.
