Imaging Diagnostic Systems, Inc., a pioneer in laser breast imaging, announced today that it has received notification from the Food and Drug Administration ( FDA) requesting additional information of its 510 (k) application in order to complete their review.
Melanoma rates in the United States have doubled over the past two decades.1 Fortunately for patients, this increase in melanoma incidence has been accompanied by the development of more effective tools for diagnosis and treatment, including genetic and molecular testing.
Dyax Corp. today announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved an expansion of the indication for KALBITOR (ecallantide), a peptide inhibitor of plasma kallikrein used in the treatment of acute hereditary angioedema (HAE) attacks, to include patients 12 years of age and older.
Enthusiasm for an emerging digital health tool, the smart pill, is on the rise but researchers at the University of Illinois at Chicago have published a paper in the American Journal of Bioethics that cautions health care providers and policymakers to slow down when it comes to allowing this technology in patient care settings.
An amputee was able to feel smoothness and roughness in real-time with an artificial fingertip that was surgically connected to nerves in his upper arm. Moreover, the nerves of non-amputees can also be stimulated to feel roughness, without the need of surgery, meaning that prosthetic touch for amputees can now be developed and safely tested on intact individuals.
