Stigma against overweight people is becoming a cultural norm around the world, even in places where larger bodies have traditionally been valued. That's according to a cross-cultural study of attitudes toward obesity to be published in the April issue of Current Anthropology.
A new study develops an inhaled microfluidic microsphere with a genetically engineered membrane from the ACE2 receptor-overexpressing cells and macrophages.
Walking is a painful experience for many of the eight million Americans who suffer lower extremity peripheral arterial disease, or PAD. The condition, which is associated with aging and involves progressive functional decline, can cause heaviness, tightness, cramping or sharp pain in the calf muscle. Pharmaceuticals expressing concern over the company's pricing for its key HIV/AIDS drug, Isentress—now the most expensive first-line AIDS treatment in the U.S.
