New technology provides extracorporeal support and enables recovery of damaged donor lungs

High metabolic rates linked to accelerated aging in humans

A recent study accepted for publication in The Endocrine Society's Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism found that higher metabolic rates predict early natural mortality, indicating that higher energy turnover may accelerate aging in humans.

Non-invasive test using patient's breath can detect cancer

A test using a patient's breath could be developed to detect lung, breast, bowel and prostate cancers, a team of scientists have discovered.While these results are only preliminary, the study published in the British Journal of Cancer today (Wednesday), found that sensors could distinguish between the breath of healthy patients and those who have cancer.

HTA announces cash distributions for the months of Oct, Nov and Dec 2009

The Board of Directors of Healthcare Trust of America, Inc. (HTA) declared cash distributions for the months of October, November, and December 2009. These distributions will be calculated based on the stockholders of record each day during such month and will equal a 7.25% annualized rate based on a share price of $10.00.
