Women who have heart attacks experience the same key symptoms as men, quashing one of the reasons given for women receiving unequal care.

Patients without advance care plans more likely to die

Researchers at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) in Omaha and the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle found only half of patients undergoing stem cell transplantation had advance care plans - documents such as living wills, power of attorney for health care, or life-support instructions - and those without plans were three times more likely to die during or after surgery.

Covance Shanghai facility receives OECD Good Laboratory Practice certification

Covance Inc. today announced that its early development facility located in Shanghai, China, has received Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) certification from the Belgian GLP Monitoring Authority, a member of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). The Covance facility in Shanghai provides bioanalytical, toxicology, lead optimization toxicology, in-vivo PK screening, and metabolism services.
