Microfluidic device mimics tumor microenvironment, helps drug discovery

Study may lead to more refined approaches for head and neck cancers

By targeting an enzyme that plays a key role in head and neck cancer cells, researchers from the UCLA School of Dentistry were able to significantly slow the growth and spread of tumors in mice and enhance the effectiveness of an immunotherapy to which these types of cancers often become resistant.

CQ looks at plans for House Foreign Affairs Committee to evaluate U.N. programs

CQ Today examines how Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Fla.), House Foreign Affairs Committee chair, "has vowed to use her new [position] to take on the U.N. and some of its more controversial practices." Ros-Lehtinen scheduled a public briefing titled "The United Nations: Urgent Problems that Need Congressional Action" for Jan. 12, during which the "committee will hear from a host of groups long critical of the U.N., including the Heritage Foundation and U.N. Increased physical activity associated with lower sleep apnea risk

A study published online as an accepted paper in the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine found that increased physical activity is associated with a lower risk of obstructive sleep apnea, a common sleep-related breathing disorder.
