Bullied young children not at higher risk of substance abuse later in life

Being bullied can hurt young children in many ways, but a new UT Dallas study found that it does not lead to later substance abuse.The research by three criminologists in UT Dallas' School of Economic, Political and Policy Sciences discovered that students who were bullied in third grade did not have a greater risk of using drugs or alcohol by ninth grade.

Merck today announced it has entered into a non-exclusive agreement with Bristol-Myers Squibb to conduct a Phase II clinical trial to evaluate the safety and efficacy of a once-daily oral combination regimen consisting of Bristol-Myers Squibb's investigational NS5A replication complex inhibitor daclatasvir and Merck's investigational NS3/4A protease inhibitor MK-5172 for the treatment of chronic hepatitis C virus infection, genotype 1.

Prostate-specific dietary supplements discouraged during radiation therapy treatments: Study

Prostate-specific dietary supplements should not be taken during radiation therapy treatments because they have been shown to increase the radiosensitivity of normal prostate cell lines, leading to normal tissue complications, according to a study in the March issue of the International Journal of Radiation Oncology*Biology*Physics, the official journal of the American Society for Radiation Oncology.
