TSRI scientists receive $1.8 million grant to develop drug candidates for multiple diseases

Scientists from the Florida campus of The Scripps Research Institute have been awarded approximately $1.8 million from the National Institute of General Medical Sciences of the National Institutes of Health to develop a series of drug candidates for a number of diseases, including heart disease, rheumatoid arthritis and several neurodegenerative disorders.

Scientists combine new type of nanoparticle with photodynamic therapy to kill cancer cells

An international group of scientists led by Gang Han, PhD, at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, has combined a new type of nanoparticle with an FDA-approved photodynamic therapy to effectively kill deep-set cancer cells in vivo with minimal damage to surrounding tissue and fewer side effects than chemotherapy.
