EndoChoice moves corporate headquarters to new 30,000 square foot location in Alpharetta, Georgia

EndoChoice, Inc. today announced that it has moved its corporate headquarters to a new location in Alpharetta, Georgia. The new 30,000 square foot corporate headquarters is three times larger than its previous facility, and features a state-of-the-art GI anatomic pathology laboratory.

British couples seek alternative fertility treatment in the US

With strict social and legal restrictions associated with third party reproduction, as well as limited egg donors available in the UK, an increasing number of British couples are traveling to the U.S. for alternative fertility treatments, such as egg donation. Unfortunately, the UK does not allow financial compensation for egg donors; this greatly reduces the number of available donors and presents major obstacles for many infertile couples, some of whom wait for an egg donor for two years or longer. Last year approximately 1200 egg donors were needed in the UK, and roughly 500 families were unable to find a donor.

Arterial grafts provide better outcomes than venous grafts in heart bypass surgery patients

The Society of Thoracic Surgeons has released new clinical practice guidelines that recommend expanding the use of arteries from the chest and forearm rather than using veins from the leg when performing coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) surgery in certain patients. The guidelines, posted online today, will appear in the February 2016 issue of The Annals of Thoracic Surgery.

OPKO Health enters into definitive agreement to acquire Inspiro Medical

OPKO Health, Inc. has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Inspiro Medical Ltd., an Israeli medical device company developing a new platform to deliver small molecule drugs such as corticosteroids and beta agonists or larger molecules to treat respiratory diseases. Inspiro's Inspiromatic is a "smart" easy-to-use dry powder inhaler with several advantages over existing devices.
