SillaJen, Inc., a private clinical-stage biotherapeutics company focused on the development of oncolytic immunotherapy products for cancer, today announced a publication of data demonstrating that in a Phase Ib trial of Pexa-Vec, patients received multiple bi-weekly doses of its lead product Pexa-Vec, representing the first report of multiple intravenous administrations of an oncolytic vaccinia.
The Kansas City Star reports that Missouri led the country in 2008 in efficiency in using federal dollars to combat Medicaid fraud. "The state recovered almost $29.8 million in 2008, the most recent year for which comparative data are available, while receiving about $1.6 million in federal Medicaid fraud grants. That equates to $18.81 recovered for every dollar received — 43 cents better than the next-best state" (Noble, 1/12).

The Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee has again recommended KALYDECO (ivacaftor) for listing on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS). However, Vertex is deeply disappointed in the conditions the PBAC has attached to the recommendation. These conditions fail to reflect the substantial clinical benefits recognised by the PBAC, and would result in limiting the number of eligible Australians who would be able to receive KALYDECO.
