Northwest Biotherapeutics, Inc., developer of the DCVax® personalized cancer vaccines, announced today that during the second quarter it raised funding of $2.65 million from investors. The funding included $1.75 million in purchases of restricted common stock of the Company by a number of private investors, together with purchases of restricted Common Stock totaling $900,000 by SDS Capital and by Ms. Linda F. Powers, Chair of the Company's Board.
A combination of two types of blood pressure-lowering drugs, an angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor (ACEI) plus an angiotensin-receptor blocker (ARB), added to enzyme replacement therapy (ERT) with agalsidase-beta (Fabrazyme, Genzyme Corporation, Cambridge, MA) is the first treatment shown to stop progressive loss of kidney function in patients with severe kidney involvement due to the rare genetic disorder Fabry disease, reports a study in the September Journal of the American Society of Nephrology.
Perrigo today announced that its licensor and supplier Synthon has received final approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for Levocetirizine tablets, a generic version of Xyzal® tablets from UCB/Sepracor, which is marketed in the U.S. by Sanofi-Aventis. Perrigo has the exclusive rights from Synthon to sell and distribute the product in the U.S.
