Following promising results in a phase III trial, the drug Taxotere has been given the green light for use in people with head and neck cancer.
It may surprise people to learn that 25 percent of those who die every year in the U.S. are Veterans. To provide care and support that reflect the important contributions made by these men and women, Hospice of Philadelphia, a service of Visiting Nurse Association of Greater Philadelphia, has become a national partner of We Honor Veterans, a pioneering campaign developed by National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization in collaboration with the Department of Veterans Affairs.
The use of illicit drugs among Americans increased between 2008 and 2009 according to a national survey conducted by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). The National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH) shows the overall rate of current illicit drug use in the United States rose from 8.0 percent of the population aged 12 and older in 2008 to 8.7 percent in 2009. This rise in overall drug use was driven in large part by increases in marijuana use.
