Ecolab Inc. announced today it is partnering with the Joint Commission's new Center for Transforming Healthcare to support a study to improve hand hygiene. The goal of the study, which will be conducted at eight leading hospitals and health systems, is to eliminate hand hygiene as a cause of healthcare associated infections (HAIs).
Today, at the 11th Annual Meeting of the American Society of Breast Surgeons, Agendia, a world leader in molecular cancer diagnostics, announced that Breast Cancer Research and Treatment has published an important study demonstrating the benefit of adjuvant chemotherapy for patients with a high-risk of breast cancer recurrence according to the MammaPrint test. The ASBS meeting takes places April 28 - May 2, 2010, at the Bellagio in Las Vegas, where you can meet the Agendia team at booth # 314.
Cells with stem-cell characteristics appear to be especially important in the formation and metastasis of tumors. Scientists have now developed a universal fluorescent probe for these "cancer stem cells". As reported in the journal Angewandte Chemie, this dye also selectively kills off the cells.
Should parents be able to use medical means to restrict the growth of profoundly disabled children to make them easier to care for at home.
