Complix NV, a biopharmaceutical company developing a pipeline of transformative protein therapeutics, called Alphabodies, for the treatment of cancer and severe autoimmune diseases, announces that it is advancing the development of CMX-02, a potential treatment of severe autoimmune disease.
Researchers have identified a gatekeeper protein that prevents pancreatic cancer cells from transitioning into a particularly aggressive cell type and also found therapies capable of thwarting those cells when the gatekeeper is depleted.
"Data showing how a hospital performs on certain measures [of post-surgical infection prevention] are publicly available. But, a study published in [the Journal of the American Medical Association] says, the publicly reported measures don't actually correlate with postop infection rates. In other words, picking your hospital on the basis of how often it administers antibiotics within an hour before surgery is not going to help you avoid an infection" (Hobson, 6/22).
