When a newly diagnosed cancer patient is considering treatment options, proton therapy might not be the first course that comes to mind. Yet over the past two decades proton therapy has continued to evolve as a viable alternative to chemotherapy and a less-invasive procedure than radiation or surgery, so much so that proton therapy is now considered the preferred course of treatment for many doctors and patients in the fight against cancer.
Research scientists at Aarhus University and Aarhus University Hospital have investigated the mechanisms by which hypertension leads to arterial damage and atherosclerosis. The results may facilitate the development of new therapies.
Presidio Pharmaceuticals, Inc. announced today the successful completion of a Phase 1a clinical trial of PPI-461, its lead HCV NS5A inhibitor, in healthy subjects. This first-in-human trial evaluated four single doses of PPI-461, followed by a five-day, once-a-day treatment regimen with PPI-461 at the highest tested dose.
