UT researchers receive 2.5 million euros from European Commission for TransGeno project

The European Commission supports the TransGeno project of UT researchers with 2.5 million euros. This support helps to recruit top researchers to work at the ERA Chair of Translational Genomics of the University of Tartu soon to be created. The research work done at the new chair will advance research in translational genomics, so that in the future, doctors would be able to diagnose diseases as early as possible, thus improving opportunities for treatment.

No unique viral sequences found in pediatric inflammatory multisystem syndrome temporally associated with SARS-CoV-2

In contrast to previous hypotheses, researchers from the University College London and Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust found no evidence of unique viral sequences from patients with pediatric inflammatory multisystem syndrome temporally associated with SARS-CoV-2 (PIMS-TS). Teen brain responds differently to drugs than adult

New research released today shows teenagers respond differently to drugs than adults and explores the long-lasting effects of drug use on brain development. One study shows people who start using drugs at a young age have greater cognitive shortfalls, including mental flexibility. Animal studies also suggest adolescents are more susceptible to lower doses of cocaine, are willing to work more for a cocaine "fix" than adults, and are at risk of developing compromised stress responses.
