The Washington Post/Fiscal Times: Tax credits and other breaks - including $50 billion a year in subsidies for low-income people to buy insurance under the new health law - were "worth more than $1 trillion to recipients last year. According to a new study by a team of researchers led by the Queen Mary University of London, women who have been prescribed Tamoxifen as a cancer preventive are failing to take the medicine owing to perceived side effects from the drug. Some of the symptoms that they report as distressing are caused naturally by the disease condition rather than the drug explain researchers.
Genomic Health, Inc. today announced worldwide commercial availability of its Oncotype DX® colon cancer test, the first multigene expression test developed for the assessment of risk of recurrence in patients with stage II disease. The 12-gene advanced diagnostic test is clinically validated to predict individual recurrence risk in stage II colon cancer patients following surgery, as reported at the 2009 American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) meeting.
