High levels of use of marijuana among US teens continue unabated, show the 2012 results of the National Institute on Drug Abuse's ‘Monitoring the Future' survey.
In a Canadian first, thoracic surgeons at Toronto General Hospital, University Health Network used a robotic surgical system to treat early-stage lung cancer by removing the cancer, along with a lobe of the lung. The use of this system improves outcomes after surgery and will expand the numbers of patients who can benefit from this type of minimally invasive surgical treatment.
Researchers have found that discarding donated kidneys on the basis of biopsy findings may be inappropriate. The findings, which appear in an upcoming issue of the Journal of the American Society of Nephrology, may help address the organ shortage by keeping valuable organs from being thrown away.
