Medicaid spending increased to $276 billion by fiscal year (FY)2003, up one-third from FY2000, according to a new web-exclusive article released today by the peer-reviewed journal Health Affairs and commissioned by the Kaiser Commission on Medicaid and the Uninsured.

There is a new path to defeat systemic sclerosis, also called scleroderma because of the hardening of the skin of the patients (from Greek skleros, "hard", and derma, "skin"). This path involves the B-cell of the immune system, so far only considered "innocent spectators," as Catholic University rheumatologist Gianfranco Ferraccioli, among the authors of the important research, puts it.
Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC, the fast growing multinational pharmaceutical group, today notes that Takeda Pharmaceuticals U.S.A. Inc. has been unsuccessful in appealing the decision by the United States District Court for the District of Delaware to deny Takeda's motion for a preliminary injunction in relation to the distribution of Hikma's colchicine 0.6mg capsules for the prophylaxis of gout flares in adults.
