Adaptive Eyewear, a UK-based not-for-profit organisation which aims to provide vision correction solutions to people in the developing world, was recognized yesterday at the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) Fifth Annual Meeting for its exemplary approach to address the significant shortage of eye care specialists and lack of vision infrastructure in Rwanda. Adaptive Eyewear's commitment to the people of Rwanda was announced at the session "Driving Disruptive Innovation at the Base of the Pyramid" on Wednesday 23rd September at 2:45pm.
According to new research following a low-fat diet high in vegetables, fruit and fiber does not prevent breast cancer from returning or prolong the survival of patients.
New perspectives are opening up in bio-engineering thanks to research jointly carried out by teams of chemists at the University of Liège and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem within the framework of the European MOLOC project (Molecular Logic Circuits). This work has led to the publication of two important publications, one straight after the other, in the Nature Nanotechnology journal.
Wanting to replace the medical equipment for taking X-rays, the Mexican Society of Radiology (CMR) created a system of digital x-ray imaging, which replaces the traditional plaque by a solid detector, which delivers results in five seconds. Analog equipment take six minutes to develop the traditional film.
KLOX Technologies Inc. is pleased to announce that it has received CE mark approval in Europe for its topical photo-converter gel as a Class IIa Medical Device for the treatment of acne vulgaris, including all severities. The gel is part of KLOX's LumiCleanse System, a first-in-class innovative, non-invasive acne vulgaris treatment with a clinically-proven superior safety and efficacy profile. The LumiCleanseTM System was previously approved for the treatment of all severities of acne vulgaris in Canada in September of this year.
