MannKind Corporation today announced that all follow-up visits have been completed for the patients enrolled in Study 171, a Phase 3 clinical study of AFREZZA (insulin human [rDNA origin]) inhalation powder, an investigational, ultra rapid-acting mealtime insulin therapy, administered using MannKind's next-generation inhaler. MannKind expects to release data from this study later this summer.
A prospective population-based study has found that higher estrogen levels in older men are associated with an increased risk of dementia. By contrast, levels of testosterone were not associated with cognitive decline.

Computerized brain fitness programs are known to help seniors improve their memory and focus. Now, a study led by researchers at Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University has found preliminary evidence that such programs may help frail seniors walk faster, potentially preventing disability and improving quality of life. Results appear in the July 19 online edition of the Journal of Gerontology.
