The findings of a new study published in the Journal of Cardiovascular Electrophysiology demonstrate that the use of high resolution imaging can greatly aid physicians who are treating patients suffering from a particular type of irregular heart beat.
For the study, Terry Davis of Louisiana State University and colleagues presented five common prescription drug labels to 395 low-income adults in Chicago, Ill.; Shreveport, La.; and Jackson, Miss., and asked them, "How would you take this medicine?" All participants spoke English and had no vision or hearing problems.
A new experiment by researchers at the Columbia Engineering and Vanderbilt University may have the solution to this long-standing problem. The team revived and repaired the damaged lungs by cross-circulation support of the whole lungs outside the body using the circulatory system with that of a living pig.
