Meru Networks, Inc., a pioneer in 802.11n enterprise networking, announced today that its customer Halifax Health Systems, a facilitator of specialized healthcare services in East Central Florida, received an InfoWorld 100 Award for deploying one of the 100 best information technology (IT) projects of 2009. Halifax's wireless LAN (WLAN) infrastructure employs Meru Networks high-performance 802.11n technology as the foundation for wireless connectivity in their new 500,000 square foot state-of-the-art medical facility in Daytona Beach, Florida.
The new year began on a high note for Alan Leonard and Julia Grimwade, professors of biological sciences at Florida Institute of Technology, when they learned their National Institutes of Health grant, which they have held for the last 11 years, had been renewed for four more years. The competitive renewal brings them $1,024, 944 to continue their research into the regulation of cell growth and division.
For patients with advanced leukemia, access to high-quality end-of-life care appears to be reduced in those dependent on blood transfusions, according to a new study being presented during the 59th American Society of Hematology Annual Meeting and Exposition in Atlanta.
HMS, a wholly owned subsidiary of HMS Holdings Corp., today announced that it has been awarded a contract by the Maine Department of Health and Human Services to perform hospital and long term care credit balance reviews and cost of care recoveries on behalf of the state's MaineCare program.
Usually, we think of mold, feces, nitric oxide, hydrogen sulfide and rat poison as rank, toxic or both. But scientists funded by the National Institutes of Health are learning more about the helpful roles these substances can play.
