A Manchester scientist has contributed to a review of allergen analysis that aims to improve the situation for those living with food allergies - preventing food fraud and protecting consumers.
Just under a third of young Swiss men prefer beer when they drink alcohol, taking in at least two thirds of their alcohol consumption in the form of the beverage. Far fewer (around five percent) prefer wine.
Johns Hopkins researchers have developed a more accurate way to calculate low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol, the so-called "bad" form of blood fat that can lead to hardening of the arteries and increase the risk of heart attack and stroke.
Functional beverage manufacturers are acknowledging consumer demand for natural and organic beverages by investing in product innovation, new flavours, and the introduction of balanced nutrients and environment-friendly packages.
A smaller portion of fish and chips has been embraced by takeaway owners and customers, research has found and may well be healthier for us.
