Boston University School of Medicine's researchers have found that sociodemographic characteristics are related to a patients' willingness to participate in cancer screenings. They found this was more important than both attitudinal barriers and medical facilitors. This study appears in the March issue of the Journal of the National Medical Association.

Research led by Queen Mary, University of London has found that having asthma is not linked to poorer scores in national school examinations. In contrast, ethnicity and social deprivation were associated with poorer educational outcomes in the study, published in the journal PLOS ONE.
AbbVie released interim results from an ongoing Phase 2 study of its investigational compound veliparib in combination with chemotherapy, which showed a 35 percent improvement (P-value=0.14) in progression-free survival (PFS) and a 30 percent improvement (P-value=0.21) in overall survival (OS) in patients with previously untreated metastatic or advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).
