New Mexico's healthcare disparity might just get worse - a hard concept to fathom given that the State has some of the most underserved areas in the country. The New Mexico Behavioral Health Collaborative, started by Governor Bill Richardson in 2004 to address "the way in which the [behavioral health] services are paid for and delivered," is coming under heavy fire from doctors around the State. The Collaborative has statutory authority and has been given broad powers that often surpass even department heads.
With the month of February designated as Heart Health Month, physician-researchers in the Division of Cardiology at the Los Angeles Biomedical Research Institute (LA BioMed) - Dr. Matthew Budoff and Dr. Ronald Oudiz - continue to pave the way with their efforts to develop treatments and therapies for conditions affecting the heart, and to help improve overall heart health.
Functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS), an optical imaging tool for monitoring of regional blood flow and tissue oxygenation, is being explored as a way to track the brain's response to acute pain in adults and infants.
WaferGen Biosystems, Inc., a leading developer of state-of-the-art genome analysis systems, today reported performance results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2010.
