The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development awards Good Samaritan Hospital, a prominent downtown Los Angeles hospital, a $417,560 grant to implement a telemedicine program that will connect members of the medical staff at Good Samaritan Hospital with public health and primary care providers and their patients at six Public Health sites on the island of Guam.
Until recently, physicians had generally assumed that older adults benefit from keeping their blood pressure below 140/90 mmHg. However, researchers from Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin have now found that this assumption does not apply to all patients with high blood pressure.
Scandinavian cardiovascular diagnostics specialist CardiNor AS today announced two new studies have been published by the group at Akershus University Hospital led by Professor Torbjørn Omland and Associate Professor Helge Røsjø in leading journals that strongly support secretoneurin as a new, important biomarker for cardiovascular disease.
Medical scientists at the University of Leicester are urgently tackling a rising tide of teenage dietary problems through an education programme for over 800 secondary school students.
In a study conducted at the Monash University, Australia, scientists have examined the efficacy of portable air purifiers combined with a hood in reducing virus aerosol transmission and protecting healthcare workers from workplace contamination. The study is currently available on the medRxiv* preprint server.
