Hillenbrand reported third quarter 2010 revenue of $205.8 million, a $47.1 million (30 percent) increase over the prior year, due primarily to the inclusion of revenue generated by K-Tron International, which Hillenbrand acquired April 1, 2010. Business acquisition costs and the impact of purchase accounting were the primary drivers of a $12.1 million (48 percent) decrease in net income from the prior year and a $0.19 (46 percent) decrease in earnings per share, from $0.41 to $0.22.

Taconic Biosciences and Cellaria Biosciences today announced that the two companies have entered into a scientific collaboration designed to facilitate and improve the utility of patient-derived xenografts (PDXs) in animal models for oncology and immuno-oncology research. Cellaria's novel methodologies for generating cells from patient tumors will complement Taconic's industry-leading portfolio of tissue humanized mouse models, which are well-suited as hosts for PDXs.
Americans seeking a better night's sleep may need to look no further than tart cherry juice, according to a new study in the European Journal of Nutrition. An international team of researchers found that when adults had two daily glasses of tart cherry juice, they slept 39 minutes longer, on average, and had up to 6 percent increase in overall sleep efficiency (significantly less non-sleep time in bed), compared to when they drank a non-cherry, fruit cocktail.
