Information Week reports that the Department of Health and Human Services has issued a rule to "beef up penalties for violations of the Health Insurance Portability and Accounting Act (HIPAA)." But the rule has generated complaints from a bipartisan group of congressmen, who argue it leaves loopholes and doesn't properly determine when privacy has been breached.
Nursing home residents with advanced dementia who receive any hospice care during the last 90 days of life receive fewer aggressive treatments and are less likely to die in hospital than their counterparts who do not receive such care, show US study results.
Now, a new study by researchers at Saarland University, Germany, and published on the preprint server medRxiv in July 2020 shows that there are higher levels of anti-SARS-CoV-2 T cells, which show significant alterations in the phenotype and function.
Researchers from the Harvard affiliated Hebrew SeniorLife Institute for Aging Research, in collaboration with scientists from Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical School, and Brown University, have found increasing evidence that the level of delirium in post-surgical patients is associated with the level of later cognitive decline in those same patients.
