A group of "major health agencies" from Australia, Canada, China, the U.K. and the U.S., which "together control 80 percent of the world's public health-research funding," have joined together to form the Global Alliance for Chronic Diseases (GACD) to combat chronic diseases in developing countries, Time reports (Walsh, Time, 6/16).
Stroke researchers from the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania will unveil a map demonstrating geographic hotspots of increased stroke mortality across the United States, among a series of stroke studies being presented at the American Academy of Neurology's 66th Annual Meeting in Philadelphia, April 26 to May 3, 2014.
Taking a critical step in eliminating confusion around health care costs, as well as addressing a significant need among today's retired workers, Colorado Public Employees' Retirement Association announced it will now offer its retirees in the pre-Medicare program a new hip and knee replacement benefit option called PERACare Select.
A recent study conducted by the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), an agency of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), shows that 32 million people in the United States have autoantibodies, the most common of which are antinuclear antibodies.
The New England Employee Benefits Council (NEEBC) named Amica Mutual Insurance as a recipient of the 2009 "Best Benefits Practice" award, presented annually to the companies best exhibiting innovation and creativity in the planning and delivery of their employee benefit programs.
