A new study finds that a medication commonly prescribed to prevent and combat symptoms of acute mountain sickness does not reduce exercise performance at high altitudes. This may be especially important for military personnel and first responders not accustomed to working above sea level.

The strain of influenza, A/H1N1, that is currently pandemic in humans has been shown to be infectious to pigs and to spread rapidly in a trial pig population.
In the decades following the work by physiologist Ivan Pavlov and his famous salivating dogs, scientists have discovered how molecules and cells in the brain learn to associate two stimuli, like Pavlov's bell and the resulting food.
