Scientists may be able to better predict which patients with colorectal cancer will respond to chemotherapy using a new mathematical model that measures the amount of stress required for a cancer cell to die without harming healthy tissue. The results of this study are published in Cancer Research, a journal of the American Association for Cancer Research.
Diffusion Pharmaceuticals LLC, a clinical-stage drug-development company, today announced that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has granted it patent no. 7,759,506 entitled "Bipolar Trans Carotenoid Salts and Their Uses." This patent includes drug formulation and use claims relating to Diffusion's entire family of first-in-class new chemical entities. Diffusion Pharmaceuticals is commercializing this family of first-in-class drug candidates to treat serious or life-threatening medical conditions characterized by hypoxia or oxygen deprivation at the cellular level.
Axial Exchange, Inc. announced that its award-winning care transition products are now available for cloud deployment. The private cloud infrastructure scales to thousands of hospitals and clinics and millions of patients, and already has been validated by multi-hospital health systems as well as Emergency Medical Service (EMS) providers.
"On Monday, April 15, USAID Administrator [Rajiv Shah] participated in a Twitter chat to answer ... questions on the proposed food aid reform in President Obama's 2014 proposed budget," Phillip Pollman, an intern with USAID, writes in the agency's "IMPACTblog."
