CardioKinetix Inc., a medical device company pioneering a catheter-based treatment for heart failure, today announced two-year clinical results for the first-of-its-kind catheter-based Parachute Ventricular Partitioning Device, a Percutaneous Ventricular Restoration (PVR) therapy for patients with ischemic heart failure.

A new study conducted by the Center for Injury Research and Policy and the Central Ohio Poison Center at Nationwide Children's Hospital found that there were more than 156,000 calls to US Poison Control Centers regarding exposures to attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder medications among children and adolescents 19 years of age and younger from January 2000 through December 2014, averaging 200 calls each week or 29 calls per day.
Asian children and black children experience higher rates of ruptured appendixes than white children, as do uninsured or Medicaid-insured children, compared to children covered by private insurance, according to a study in the October 27 issue of JAMA.
WellStar Kennestone Hospital opened a new inpatient pediatric unit. Previously, Cobb County did not have an inpatient pediatric unit, forcing families to leave their community to receive hospital-based care. The new unit will keep pediatric patients and their families close to home.
