New research from King's College London has found that maternal stress before and during pregnancy could affect a baby's brain development.
The University of Arkansas will host the 2010 Advances in Breast Cancer Research workshop sponsored by the National Science Foundation on Oct. 26-29. The workshop will bring together researchers in nanotechnology, biomagnetics, microwave imaging, acoustics, laser and biochemistry fields with researchers from radiology, oncology and breast surgery.
Experts have discovered that loss of sensation in the feet, a result of diabetes, may be a predictor of cardiovascular events such as heart attack and strokes.
Radiotherapy for cancer involves exposing the patient or their tumor more directly to ionizing radiation, such as gamma rays or X-rays.
A study led by U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) chemist Richard Anderson suggests that a water soluble extract of cinnamon, which contains antioxidative compounds, could help reduce risk factors associated with diabetes and heart disease.
