Patients with high levels of proteinuria (protein in urine) in addition to another marker of reduced kidney function had an associated increased risk of all-cause death, heart attack or progression to kidney failure, according to a study in the February 3 issue of JAMA.
The kidney is the most commonly transplanted organ in the United States, with more than 17,000 transplants performed each year. Following kidney transplant, patients are routinely placed on a regimen of immunosuppressant medications to prevent organ rejection, which often includes calcineurin inhibitors (CNIs) as the backbone medication of this regimen.
Today, Formatech, Inc. announced the issuance of U.S. patent 7,659,310, entitled "Methods of Enhancing Solubility of Agents" which covers novel formulation methods to enhance the solubility of certain hydrophobic compounds.
