But its response to medical errors, near-misses, unexpected clinical problems and unintended outcomes is a model for the nation that other hospitals can and should copy, according to a new paper in a prestigious health care journal.
New research recently published in the Journal of Pediatric Surgery found that post-operative success rates of pediatric thyroid patients, particularly children who require a thyroidectomy, correlate with the institution's patient volume.
Soligenix, Inc., formerly known as DOR BioPharma, Inc., a late-stage biotechnology company, announced today that it has initiated a Phase 1/2 clinical trial evaluating SGX201, a time-release formulation of oral beclomethasone 17,21-dipropionate (oral BDP), for the prevention of acute radiation enteritis.
A new evidence-based instrument to assess and classify peristomal skin lesions was launched at the 2010 Joint Conference of the Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurses Society and World Council of Enterostomal Therapists. The instrument, known as the SACS Instrument, represents the first content-validated instrument to objectively assess and classify peristomal lesions by type and location in relation to an individual's stoma.
This week PLoS Medicine publishes the third in a four-part series of policy papers examining the ways in which global health institutions and arrangements are changing and evolving.
