NPR/KSMU: "Experts say a different type of identity theft is on the rise - one that could compromise both the victim's credit and physical safety. Patients using someone else's name, Social Security number or insurance card to get health care could risk their victim's health if inaccurate information, such as blood type and medications, is recorded on the victim's chart."
Research from the Society for Vascular Surgery in collaboration with the Mount Sinai School of Medicine Department of Health Evidence and Policy in New York City evaluated the data of 3.1 million patients who were at risk for an abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA).
Minnesota is one of only six states that covers all recommended tobacco cessation medications and counseling for its citizens coved by Medicare, according to an annual "report card" issued today by the American Lung Association. Indiana, Massachusetts, Nevada, Oregon and Pennsylvania are the other states honored with a 'thumbs up,' although no state earned an "A" grade for cessation coverage this year.
