Researchers report that there is a shared genetic susceptibility to epilepsy and migraine with aura.
A new study from Dr. Lin Yee Chen, Associate Professor of Medicine in the Cardiovascular Division at the University of Minnesota Medical School, could clarify whether it is atrial fibrillation (A-Fib) or a large or abnormally functioning left atrium that is the principal driver of poor health outcomes, such as stroke and cognitive decline in patients with A-Fib.
Among patients with kidney disease who received specialized pre-dialysis care in a universal healthcare system, blacks experienced faster disease progression than whites, according to a study appearing in an upcoming issue of the Clinical Journal of the American Society of Nephrology (CJASN). The findings suggest that healthcare system factors have less influence on black-white disparities in kidney function decline than other factors.
