A group of Democratic senators have written a letter to Republican governors in states such as South Dakota, Wyoming, Wisconsin and Nebraska urging that they set politics aside and pursue the health law's expansion of the state-federal low-income insurance program. Meanwhile, the issue is also front and center in primary elections.
Americans age 50 and older who report that they have been incarcerated at some point in their lives are more likely to express anxiety about several aspects of retirement, to have experienced unemployment in the recent past, and to have fewer sources of income for retirement than those who have not, according to a new national survey of Americans age 50 and older from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research.
The Annual Surveillance Report on HIV, viral hepatitis and sexually transmissible infections (STIs) in Australia was released and it revealed that there is a rise in diagnosis of gonorrhea and syphilis but the number of people being affected by HIV has plateaued. In addition tens of thousands of people have been cured of Hepatitis C. The report comes from the Kirby Institute at UNSW Sydney.
Why nurses get to implement health policies but so few are involved in developing them is at the heart of a roundtable conference being held in Canada later this month.
Results from a Brazilian study suggest that higher levels of intrinsic religiosity are associated with fewer depressive symptoms and increased quality of life in patients with bipolar disorder.
