Medtronic Inc. announced today the start of SYMPLICITY HTN-3, the company's U.S. clinical trial of the Symplicity Renal Denervation System for treatment-resistant hypertension.

Rates of childhood obesity showed the first signs of a small decline in 19 of 43 sites studied by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Despite this encouraging news, nearly 1 in 6 (17%) children and teens are obese, including 1 in 8 (12%) preschoolers.
A new study published in Diabetologia (the journal of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes shows that children with a strong family history of cardiovascular disease (CVD) and/or type 2 diabetes were found to have cholesterol levels significantly higher than children with no family history of those conditions.
