A medicinal plant frequently used in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) - Evodia rutaecarpa - contains substances that can cause cardiac arrhythmia. This is what researchers from the Universities of Basel, Vienna and Utrecht have recently found out.
This research, reported in this week's issue of Science, is part of a larger research initiative being led by Adolfo Garcia-Sastre, PhD, Professor of Microbiology and Peter Palese, PhD, Professor and Chairman of Microbiology at Mount Sinai School of Medicine.
Study findings suggest that African–American and Afro–Caribbean men who have poor perceptions or experiences of their healthcare system are less likely to have prostate-specific antigen screening than those with positive healthcare experiences.
For many patients with advanced blood cancers, a stem-cell transplant can drive the disease into remission. However, about one-third of these patients experience a relapse and face a very poor prognosis.
